NEWEA Schoolkit

The NEWEA Youth Education Committee proudly presents the Water Environment School-age Presentation Toolkit, a collection of pre-packaged presentation materials for outreach to grades K-12. The toolkit is designed for NEWEA members, industry professionals, teachers, and other community leaders (4-H, scouting) looking to educate school-age children on the importance of water quality and the role it plays in each of our lives.

Elena Proakis Ellis discusses household water use with a group of first graders.Featured as a President’s Challenge, these materials enable volunteers to perform outreach activities with ease.

The “NEWEA Schoolkit” provides all of the materials needed to give quality interactive presentations about a variety of water and wastewater topics. Schoolkit contents are grouped by grade level and topic and are available in a variety of formats including PDFs, customizable PowerPoint presentations, and pre-printed 11×17 posters. Presentations are organized with content and images and include talking points as well as hands-on activities to engage students on topics including wastewater, stormwater, non-dispersibles, and water conservation. The NEWEA office has a range of giveaway materials including stickers, coloring books, and a bookmark, available in a colorful giveaway bag. These bags can be mailed to you prior to your presentation, with one for each student.

Industry professionals and volunteers proudly created these materials and hope they will help you share your passion for the water environment with your community. Click here for a video of a sample presentation about water and wastewater to a first grade classroom by a NEWEA Youth Education Committee member.
