NEWEA Student Scholarship

The Scholarship Committee is pleased to offer scholarships for both environmental field majors and for non-environmental related majors whose studies align with NEWEA’s mission. One $2000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualifying Undergraduate (associate’s or bachelor’s program) or Graduate applicant in the field of civil/environmental engineering or related sciences and one $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a student interested in working in the water industry and currently enrolled in any field certificate, associate’s, or bachelor’s program. The scholarship recipients will also receive a one-year Student membership to NEWEA.

Criteria for selection include:

  1. Essay
  2. Extracurricular activities with an emphasis on volunteer experience
  3. Work Experience
  4. Grade point average
  5. Recommendation letter (OPTIONAL)

NEWEA’s objective is to encourage and to provide incentive for capable and motivated individuals to continue their studies in the advancement of their water environment protection skills and to enhance and promote the quality of their performance as environmental professionals.

Student Scholarship Applications* deadline is 3:00 PM on Friday, December 6, 2024

Only online application submissions will be accepted. Individuals are only eligible to apply for one scholarship per academic year.

Kate Biedron Memorial Scholarship

One $3,000 award, which includes a one-year Student membership to NEWEA, will be made available to a qualifying Undergraduate applicant enrolled in a public, New England-based university in an Engineering Program.

Criteria for selection include:

  1. Essay
  2. Extracurricular activities with an emphasis on volunteer experience
  3. Work Experience
  4. Grade point average
  5. Recommendation letter (OPTIONAL)

Scholarship Applications* are due by 3:00pm on Friday, December 6, 2024

Terry Campbell Memorial Scholarship

One $3,000 award, which includes a one-year Student membership to NEWEA, will be made available to a qualifying Undergraduate applicant who is a resident of Maine and enrolled at the University of Maine Orono. The applicant must be enrolled on a full-time basis in an approved program leading to a Bachelor’s degree in the field of civil or environmental engineering.

  5. Recommendation letter (OPTIONAL)

Scholarship Applications* are due by 3:00pm on Friday, December 6, 2024
