Water System Operations Manager

The Town of Framingham, Department of Public Works, seeks a qualified candidate to join its growing team of water professionals.  Framingham’s Water Division is straight out of the 21st century; they are proactive in its system operation and maintenance approach, and oversee and perform various capital improvement projects utilizing in-house staff and state of the art equipment.  We are seeking someone to take the reins and continue to move this program forward into the future.

Reporting to the Asst. Director of Water & Wastewater, the Water System Operations Manager is responsible for the administration of the Water Division’s programs.  Framingham is an MWRA community and the Operations Manager primary focus is on the construction, maintenance, and operation of the Town’s Water Distribution System mains and appurtenances. The Manager assures that operations are carried out in accordance with federal, state and town health regulations. The Operations Manager coordinates work activities with other Town Divisions and Departments, contractors, consulting agencies, state and federal agencies and the general public. Delegates and assigns work orders to appropriate personnel in accordance with schedules of programs; estimates personnel requirements. The incumbent shall be able to equitably and fairly instruct, supervise and coach employees to maximize the efficiency of each work unit.

Qualified candidates will possess the ability to construct or maintain from engineered design drawings and specifications. Possess a Grade 4 Drinking Water Operators License issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or the ability to obtain one within 6-months.
