Description:

Will work Monday thru Friday, 7AM – 3PM for a total of 40 hours.

Once training is complete, will move to an off shift.

Will be expected to work off shift (either 2nd or 3rd shift).

Must be available weekends and holidays.

Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/ wastewater, sludge, and effluent

Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels

Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings

Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control

Starts and stops pump, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes

Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings

Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses

Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties

Makes operating decisions in absence of supervisory personnel

Performs other duties as required
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required

Certification at a level required by the State in which the project is located

One year of experience in operating water/wastewater treatment plants

Possess a valid driver’s license

Senior Project Engineer

JKMuir is currently seeking a Water / Wastewater Engineer with 7 to 10 years experience to join our Rocky Hill, CT office.  The successful candidate will have strong treatment process and pumping system knowledge, excellent written and oral communication skills, will be flexible and self motivated, and comfortable performing independent site visits, field work, and hands-on process energy audits.

General responsibilities will include:

·         Independently lead projects and mentor junior staff engineers,

·         Successfully manage and deliver projects within schedule and on budget while meeting quality requirements,

·         Evaluate, select and apply standard techniques and procedures for engineering analysis,

·         Work with plant operators and/or electricians to perform equipment testing, including obtaining flow, pressure and electrical measurements using portable instrumentation and devices,

·         Develop detailed reports documenting process systems, cost savings opportunities, calculation and modeling results, and recommended implementation plans,

·         Work directly with clients to set-up site visits, discuss operations/processes, and discuss and explain findings and results,

·         Work directly with state, municipal, federal and utility run grant programs to understand funding requirements and prepare applications on behalf of clients,

·         Perform construction phase services including start-up, testing, and commissioning of building and process systems,

·         Travel to site locations in New England and New York (and potentially other locations outside these regions) to meet with clients and perform field work.  Travel is anticipated to account for approximately 20% of employee’s time.

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

·         Bachelors degree in civil or environmental engineering,

·         Minimum of 7 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater pump and treatment process design,

·         Must have excellent MS Office computer skills (particularly Excel) and technical writing skills,

·         Professional Engineer license preferred,

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in microbiology, public health, environmental science, sanitary engineering or related field, and knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and NPDES permit requirements as normally acquired through seven (7) to nine (9) years of experience of which a minimum of three years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS), MS Office Suite including Project Outlook, and Oracle is required.

 

Completion of EPA NPDES Permit Writer’s Course required within 6 months.

Grade 4 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator-in training license preferred.

 

Salary Range:   $83,600 – $112,900
