Annual Conference & Exhibit 2021 Announcement

NEWEA’s Staff and Meeting Management Council began meeting regularly this summer to discuss options for hosting the 2021 Annual Conference & Exhibit with consideration for current public health guidelines and protocols. We had previously identified three possibilities for hosting the 2021 Annual Conference:

1. Fully virtual
2. Hybrid virtual and in-person
3. Fully in-person

The health and safety of our attendees, staff, and volunteers remains our top priority. With no COVID-19 vaccine or treatments available at present and bans on large in-person gatherings in place for the foreseeable future, NEWEA’s Staff and Meeting Management Council have decided that the 2021 Annual Conference will happen entirely virtually.

The 2021 Annual Conference will take place virtually from approximately 11:45 am – 3:00 pm on the following dates:

1. Tuesday January 26, 2021
2. Thursday January 28, 2021
3. Tuesday February 2, 2021
4. Thursday February 4, 2021

This decision was made based on the insight we gained from hosting our slate of fall specialty conferences and other organizations that have already hosted their annual conferences. We found that our typical schedule of three full conference days would not effectively transfer to a digital format. Instead, we feel our attendees, sponsors, speakers, and exhibitors would best be served through the format outlined above.

Each of the four days will feature concurrent technical sessions with live Q&A, for which we will offer TCHs. In addition to our technical program, we’ll stream a keynote session, the Student Poster Competition, and panels on diversity, equity, and inclusion and the anniversary of the 19th Amendment.

The Sponsor and Exhibit Program have also been revamped for this virtual event platform, providing companies with a diverse selection of high-visibility options. In addition to our usual tiered sponsor program, which was adapted to fit our virtual platform, we are offering a number of exclusive sponsor options that prominently display sponsors’ branded content to our attendees.

Companies will also have the opportunity to reserve a virtual exhibit booth that can be customized and allows exhibitors to generate high-quality leads, connect with existing clients, and introduce products and services. The Sponsor and Exhibit program will be released in the coming week.

The conference preliminary program and registration will be available in late November, and we will be sending out regular updates and information as we get closer to the conference.
