NEWEA Congratulates NYWEA on Winning WEF Award

The Water Environment Federation annually recognizes individuals and member associations that make outstanding contributions to the water environment, WEF, NYWEAor their local organizations. According to the WEF website, one such award, the Outstanding Member Association Award recognizes a WEF Member Association that excels in seven performance areas: membership retention, financial strength, new memberships, scholarship programs, student achievement and support, technology transfer, and award program and participation.

This year, WEF honors the New York Water Environment Association with the Outstanding Member Association Award. While the New York Water Environment Association demonstrated excellence in each of the seven performance areas, one of the major highlights of their program is the NYWEA scholarship fund. The association has worked hard to develop a financial resource of $1 million to support aspiring water environment professionals.  In 2016, NYWEA is planning to give out $40,000 in scholarships; $45,000 in 2017, and $50,000 in 2018.

NEWEA congratulates its neighbor on its achievements and on receiving such a prestigious award. NEWEA encourages other state associations to follow NYWEA’s lead as an exemplary resource for all of those involved in the water environment. NYWEA and NEWEA recently cooperated to host the 2016 Spring Meeting in Mystic, Connecticut, and will continue their partnership at WEFTEC in September, when they co-host a cocktail reception at The Chicory restaurant in New Orleans.

WEF will honor all of the 2016 award recipients during WEFTEC 2016, WEF’s 89th Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference, this September in New Orleans, LA. Click here for a list of award recipients.
