Stockholm Jr. Water Prize Offers a Lifetime Experience

New SJWP LogoIn Spring, NEWEA announced six New England students that had been selected to participate in the U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize National Competition*, July 17-19 at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte (UNCC). The following New England students were selected:

  • Connecticut – Lauren Pawlowski & Courtney Litts “The Effects of Pollutants on Aquatic Life”.
  • Maine – Paige Brown “Constructing Low Cost Calcium Alginate Based Scaffolds for Pollutant Reduction”
  • Massachusetts – Lillian Cain “Washing Fertilizer: Engineering Greywater for Reuse in Hydroponic Systems”
  • New Hampshire – Mary Zhu “Food for Thought: A Novel Computational Approach to Modeling the Impacts of School Nutrition Policies on the Blue Water Footprint”
  • Rhode Island – Nicolas Berg “Investigating the Death of an Ecosystem (Part 1 & 2)”
  • Vermont – Josie Ford “Project Clean Water: The Effect of Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation on Bacteria in Lake Water”

Recently, NEWEA received thank-you notes from Vermont High School student, Josie Ford and Connecticut High School student, Lauren Pawlowski.  Josie and Lauren both expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and support to participate in the Stockholm Junior Water Prize Competition.
