NEWEA’s Committee Member Appreciation Chair Dan Roop and his fellow committee members coordinated another very successful outing at Kimball Farms in what has become an eagerly anticipated summertime gathering for our membership. Dan has been an active member of NEWEA since 2012 and is presently employed by Tighe and Bond as a Staff Engineer in their new Westwood, MA office. He is a certified Engineer-In-Training, and his project activities are focused on the design and construction of wastewater treatment plant and pump station upgrades, capital improvement planning, and process and laboratory instrumentation and controls. As an undergraduate, Dan attended Bates College in Lewiston, ME where he was awarded his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. Dan also has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Dan finds the people of NEWEA very welcoming, personable, and always willing to share professional advice and insights on the latest technologies emerging in the water industry. As a young engineer, he finds that the opportunity to meet with exhibitors at our conferences allows him to establish personal relationships with manufacturer’s representatives so he can better understand the capabilities of their products as they apply to his projects. He appreciates NEWEA’s focus on Young Professionals, especially the networking opportunities offered at our conferences and other special events such as Water for People, the Concord WWTP tour, and this year’s recent Poo and Brew event hosted by the MWRA.

Dan enjoys spending his leisure time with his wife Abbie and his family. He can be found at Lake Matawanakee in his hometown of Littleton, MA where his activities include water skiing in the summer, and pond hockey in the winter, as well as enjoying our amazing summers on scenic Cape Cod fishing and kayaking. Dan is also an avid traveler, hiker, and cyclist having completed three 192 mile Pan Mass Challenge bike rides with Team Tighe & Bond.

Thank you Dan for your efforts and dedication leading the activities of this important NEWEA Committee. We look forward to returning to Kimball Farms next summer!

Do you know a member that should be showcased here? Pay it forward, as Elizabeth Cutone
