At the NEWEA Spring Meeting this past June, four teams participated in the New England Operations Challenge. Three of those teams represented NEWEA at WEFTEC in Chicago including; Force Maine (Maine), the Seacoast Sewer Snakes (New Hampshire) and Ocean State Alliance (Rhode Island).
Our teams competed against 42 teams from across North America as well as 2 new teams from Germany. As usual, the New England Teams made us proud by displaying their exceptional skills in a wide variety of wastewater infrastructure related events including: Process Control, Laboratory, Collection System, Maintenance and Safety. Teams compete based on time, precision and safety criteria with winners determined both in individual events as well as for the overall team score across all events.
Each of the New England teams had a top-10 finish in at least one event (Force Maine had two!) and very respectable overall scores. However, our teams continued their dominance in the Process Control Event as each team finished near the top in Division 2, including a 2nd place overall for the Seacoast Sewer Snakes and a 3rd place overall for Force Maine.
