The annual Operations Challenge Training Day, held this year on April 19th , was another great success.
Operations Challenge is the “Wastewater Olympics” for professionals in the wastewater treatment industry. Teams of 4 members compete in 5 separate events: operations, maintenance, laboratory, safety and collection systems
Veteran competitors and new recruits representing teams from Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire and Rhode Island attended the annual Operations Challenge Training Day. We also had hands-on expertise from Wilo Pump (providing the official pump for the Maintenance Event) and YSI (WEFTEC’s vendor-provider for DO and pH equipment for the Lab Event). Trainers on-hand included the Event Coordinators for all five Ops Challenge components.
Massachusetts Water Pollution Control Association (MWPCA) generously donated funds for the barbecue lunch where Jane Brooks cooked up her famous jerk chicken, a big draw for this affair and United Waters, Holyoke once again for providing the space and host services for the event.
Thanks to all our NEWEA Ops Challenge supporters, especially to the Challenge team members and recruits, who really are the stars of the day. The 2013 NEWEA Ops Challenge will be held at the Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster, MA, June 2 and 3, 2013.
