Restricted to leave to protect status of 2/3/18.  Takes and records readings of plant equipment, including temperature, pressure, and vacuum. Operates a variety of pumps, valves, gates, and switches in order to operate the plant equipment.  Responds to alarms or operational problems within plant property and at remote locations and takes corrective action based on defined procedures or supervisor direction.  Cleans plant equipment and facilities and maintains a safe working environment.  Frequently requires operation of a forklift, Bobcat, front end loader, sweeper, scum truck, and/or pick-up truck.  Collects samples, performs standard tests, and records results; notifies supervisor if readings are abnormal. Assists other operators and plant staff with cleaning, maintaining, repairing, and installing plant equipment.  Receives hazardous materials (chemical deliveries) and completes appropriate paperwork. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.  As required, to drive a facility vehicle on or off site.  Medium Work; exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. as required and authorized by Chapter 42-17.4 of the RI General Laws of 1956, as amended (RIGL)Experience: Performance in basic maintenance.  Following Instructions. ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) is seeking candidates for an Environmental Engineer to work with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) to focus solely on storm recovery tasks in connection with the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR).   The Environmental Engineer will conduct engineering reports, plans and specifications, contract and work plan reviews and approval for wastewater treatment plant repairs and resiliency upgrades. Will conduct monthly inspections to document construction upgrades, generate inspection reports, and review and approve reimbursement requests.  Will coordinate and conduct Community Assistance Visits with local Floodplain Managers within NY Rising communities to assess proficiency and training needs.  This position will extend through September 2019.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in environmental or civil engineering, or related field and must hold a New York State Professional Engineer’s license with current registration. Incumbent will have experience applying engineering principles in identifying and solving engineering problems related to protecting and remediating air, land, and water resources. Experience and capability working with state and local water/wastewater agencies required. Experience with operation of wastewater treatment utilities and facility reconstruction preferred, as well as experience with SPDES permits compliance action and inspection process and procedures.

This full-time position is responsible for the operation and general maintenance of equipment at a 1 MGD advanced wastewater treatment facility. Primary focus will be in laboratory analysis, record keeping, and process control. The operation and monitoring of any collection pipelines or distribution network and all associated components.
Daily inspection and record keeping of plant processes.
Maintaining communications with project personnel.
Preventive maintenance activities and data entry and report generation, including data for preparing the Monthly Operating Report.  Monitor and control assigned tasks to ensure cost-effective service to meet budget, and will serve as an integral team member with the project staff and management.

Coordinate with plant personnel, ensuring that other facility employees follow established administrative, safety, operating, and maintenance policies.

Qualifications:

– Applicant will possess proficiency with computers, including an ability to work with: SCADA, Microsoft Word, Excel, Maintenance – Management Programs, and other site specific systems.
– High School Graduate or Equivalent.
– 0-3 of professional experience in the operation and maintenance of a water or wastewater treatment facility is desired.

This position is responsible for managing all activities related to the successful delivery of medium and large capital infrastructure projects from inception to completion, the size and sensitivity of which have a significant impact to operational, financial, regulatory and/or other company objectives.

Nature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities:

·         Manage the development of technical, bidding and contractual documents in accordance with corporate engineering guidelines including negotiations of agreements in coordination with supply chain management.

·         Ensure corporate Technical and Environmental Health and Safety/Security standards are incorporated into the design specifications.

·         Manage environmental and governmental permitting in coordination with local business unit staff.

·         Support the oversight of construction management personnel to ensure timely completion of assignments, budget compliance and adherence to applicable standards.

This position is third shift and will manage process data, perform routine lab analysis, operate SCADA controls and perform computer data entry and other operation and maintenance tasks as directed.

Qualifications:

–  High School or trade school diploma is required; three to five years’ experience in a water treatment facility performing operation and maintenance tasks or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
–  Massachusetts Water Treatment Plant Operator’s License Grade III (minimum) or the ability to obtain through the operator’s exam or reciprocity within 6 months a must.
– A valid Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle operator’s license.
Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation’ and maintenance of Water Treatment and Pump Station Systems.
