The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) is hiring the Deputy Division Director for its Division of Municipal Services within the Bureau of Water Resources.    The Deputy Division Director will work with MassDEP’s water program managers to identify priority areas for investment of Clean Water State Revolving Fund and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) financing. The Deputy Director will develop and oversee the annual solicitation of SRF-financed projects and grant-funded projects (including Non-Point Source 319 grants), integrating the program priorities within the solicitation criteria. The Deputy Division Director ensures that the selected projects are managed according to MassDEP’s rules, regulations and policies for project oversight. The Deputy Director will also develop/revise SRF-related and grant-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that will expedite or otherwise streamline the project management process. Deputy Director will track the progress of SRF and other projects; and will guide and direct environmental planning reviews. The Deputy Director is be responsible for periodic required reporting to USEPA.  The Deputy Director will seek out training opportunities for staff that expand the Division’s engineering and project management skill sets.

The Field Sales Account Representative develops and maintains accounts for activated carbon and other media solutions along with associated equipment and operating services for the Northeast region.

 

The ideal location for the representative is in the Hartford, CT / Providence, RI / Worcester, MA or surrounding areas. The primary responsibility of this position is to directly and indirectly grow all revenue segments for media, equipment and ongoing Evoqua service at target accounts while working closely with other Evoqua divisions to leverage relationships and portfolio. Responsibilities:

Manage a specific geographic territory, pricing existing customer penetration and prospecting for new business
Assists clients with technical solutions to help identify and resolve their technical water treatment issues
Develops and maintains plans for strategic accounts that exceed expectations in revenue retention/growth, account profitability, and customer satisfaction/loyalty

Qualifications:

Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other software will be an important component of success in the position
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record, must meet eligibility requirements to drive company vehicle
Knowledge of Environmental regulations, municipal and industrial water treatment with a focus on activated carbon is a plus
Successfully demonstrated experience selling or experience in the Environmental Services product line

Description

Tends automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment including pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, chemical feed and odor control and vacuum filters used to decontaminate waste water by settling, aeration and sludge digestion. Monitors control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow. Monitors flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures and related controls through instrument panels, computer terminals and programmable logic control units in assigned area. Monitors and records operating conditions observations and data in area shift log. Ensures conformance to process specifications.  Diagnoses basic operational problems and takes corrective action per procedure. Verifies and reports suspected malfunctions and variances to supervisor and takes corrective actions. Performs routine and preventative maintenance and maintenance related items as assigned. Performs manual labor including filling and emptying of machine bins and cleaning equipment, facilities and grounds as required. Performs minor maintenance including, but not limited to, routine preventive maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustments. Operates vehicles for plant operational purposes. Practices good housekeeping in assigned area and properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental policies. Performs field tests (chemical, physical and biological) in order to pace chemical dosages for process and odor control units or alter unit processes.  Samples wastewater, sludge and gases (odor control, digester, etc.) according to schedule. Performs routine lab tests. Performs routine instrument calibration for portable meters including, but not limited to, dissolved oxygen, pH, H2S, percent oxygen, lower explosive limit. Assists in other areas of plant as needed.

 

Qualifications

High school or GED with the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions) and the ability to interpret and record data.

Must be able to carry out verbal and written instructions with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Some vocational training and mechanical aptitude preferred, with the ability to read, interpret and record data from meters, gauges, computers and other equipment but would be willing to train. Experience in a related position with experience, in a similar environment preferred, with working knowledge of the standard practices, common tools, materials, and occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade but would be willing to train.

Should have the ability to diagnose basic and routine process and mechanical problems and take remedial corrective action. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn computer programs for collection system operation. Must consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently perform assigned duties and meet or exceed production and quality goals.

Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily. Typically holds or is working toward a first level treatment certificate. One year to obtain Class I Certificate. (Requires minimum wastewater license as required by regulatory agencies at site). Must be able to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on call.

Amount of time spent – Sitting 10%, Bending 10%, Standing 10%, and Walking 70% for as many as five miles per shift. Requires close visual and hearing observation to detect non-conformance and machine malfunction.
