Ocean State Alliance Victorious at Spring Meeting

Each year at the Spring Meeting, NEWEA hosts the Operations Challenge competition, pitting talented teams of wastewater professionals from member states against one another in five different skill competitions. The teams compete for bragging rights, plaques, and a chance to compete in the national Operations Challenge tournament at WEFTEC in the fall.

This year, Rhode Island’s Ocean State Alliance (Vinnie Russo Jr., Ed Davies, Ryan Patnode, Sam Sullivan, and coach Mike Spring) emerged as the winners of the competition, placing first in the laboratory and maintenance categories. They also earned a second place finish in safety and third in process control and collection system competitions.

NEWEA congratulates Ocean State Alliance and wishes them the best of luck at the national competition at WEFTEC  2016 in New Orleans, LA. NEWEA also congratulates all teams that took part in the Operations Challenge competition at the Spring Meeting, and encourages all those interested to join or form a team and participate in next year’s tournament!
