Upcoming Event : First Student Design Competition
The Student Activity Committee is excited to announce the first NEWEA Student Design Competition. This competition is intended to promote “real world” design experience for students interested in pursuing an education and/or career in water engineering and sciences. This competition tasks teams of student members within NEWEA to design and present a program meeting the requirements of a problem statement that they have worked on together as a team.  This competition is intended for both undergraduate and graduate students, typically completing a capstone project. Winning teams from each category will move on to the national competition at WEFTEC.

Young Professionals : Poo & Brew, #2
The Young Professionals committee in conjunction with Boston-area graduate students held the second edition of the Poo and Brew series of networking events on November 5.  A great time was had by all in the two-part networking event.  The Upper Blackstone Water Pollution Abatement District (UBWPAD) served as host for the “Poo” part of the event, with a tour of the biological nutrient removal facility and Wormtown Brewery in Worcester, MA served as host for the “Brew” portion of the evening.  A tour of the brewery was offered and fine food and drink were enjoyed.
Many thanks go out to the UBWPAD staff for volunteering their time to provide tours! Stay tuned for details on the next in the series in Spring 2016.
