NEWEA’s Program Committee Chair Jessica Cajigas.

Jessica is employed by Comprehensive Environmental Inc. (CEI) where she has worked for the last four years as a Senior Environmental Scientist. Her projects include watershed assessments and nutrient loading studies, evaluations of water supply issues with respect to the new SMWI standards, MS4 compliance, and hazardous waste site investigations. Jessica has had a varied and interesting career in our industry having previously worked for the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission as an Environmental Analyst evaluating drinking water, climate change, and source water protection issues, the Town of Westford Water Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services as a hazardous waste inspector. Jessica attended the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry where she received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental and Forest Biology, and also Indiana University where she earned a Master’s of Science and a Master’s of Public Affairs in Environmental Policy and Natural Resources Management. Jessica has been a member of NEWEA for three years serving on the Program Committee. As the Chair of this key NEWEA committee, Jessica enjoys the challenge of overseeing our many programs, coordinating activities with NEWEA staff and colleagues, and keeping the multiple events of our Annual Conference and Spring Meeting on track. She finds that NEWEA keeps her well connected to all aspects of our industry and engaged with other professionals regarding the changing landscape of stormwater issues relative to policy and regulations, water quality impacts, cutting edge technologies, and funding. She is especially proud of NEWEA’s more recent initiatives with the Hot Topic sessions at the Annual Conference, where she has observed these sessions blossoming into some of our most dynamic, informative, and well attended sessions. It’s no surprise that Jessica is an athlete; she enjoys playing ice hockey, snowboarding, and playing and coaching soccer. An avid global traveler, Jessica has most recently visited Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, and Italy and is currently planning a trip to Iceland! Thank you Jessica for your leadership and dedication to NEWEA!
