NEWEA Call for Action – Request for Federal Funding

Good Afternoon Water Quality Professionals,

WEF, NEWEA, NACWA and a number of other professional organizations have sent a Support Letter to the House and Senate Appropriations Committees requesting full funding in FY16 for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), WIFIA, and grants for the EPA’s Integrated Planning pilot program.  The letter was included in the Capitol Hill meeting packets for attendees to the National Water Policy Forum & Fly-In the week of April 13th.  This funding request is very much in line with the talking points that NEWEA members used in meeting with our New England Senators and Congressmen.

We are asking NEWEA’s federal, state and regional water quality professionals to sign the letter to demonstrate the broad reach of national support for funding these important federal programs.  Of particular concern is that the EPA’s FY16 funding request for the CWSRF is a decrease of 22% ($323 million) from the $1.45 billion level of recent years!

You Can Help!

  1. Print this Support Letter on letterhead of your utility, company or organization.
  2. Send your support letter to the committee chairs referenced, in addition copy your own Congressmen and Senators. Find your senators and congressmen name here along with address and contact information
  3. Mail your support letter prior to May 22nd to your state and federal elected officials, prior to Memorial Day and the unofficial start of the summer holiday.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.

Sincerely,
Peter Grose, Chair, NEWEA Government Affairs Committee, 860-646-2469
Matt Formica, NEWEA President
Mary Barry, NEWEA Exectutive Director
