The Public Education Committee is proud to announce that NEWEA has been selected as a host of the US competition for the 2012 Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP).

Stockholm Junior Water PrizeThe  Stockholm Junior Water Prize is an international science competition that challenges high school students to address the issues facing our water resources. More than 30 countries participate in this international competition which brings together some of the world’s brightest young scientists.  This competition is where state-level winners will compete for national honors.  The national winner will then compete internationally in Stockholm, Sweden.  View Testimonials

It is estimated that more than 100 students, teachers & judges from around the country will gather for three days of camaraderie, competition, and celebration at the Hilton Logan Airport Hotel, Boston, MA, where they will have the opportunity to meet with like-minded students to discuss their research projects and exchange ideas, as well as see the sites of Boston at this fun and educational event.

NEWEA has been selected to host this event and will help organize, fund, volunteer for such activities as local transportation, signage, a learning event, sight-seeing opportunities and souvenirs. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Airport greeters are needed for Thursday, June 14, 2012. Greeters would meet students as they arrive at Logan Airport and help them to their shuttle buses to the hotel.  If you’re interested, contact Ron Tiberi to discuss time slots.
