What will you be doing?  
Project Managers guide our clients through all phases of the project beginning with the concept to construction completion including helping the client navigate funding options. As a Project Manager, you are responsible for client interactions, managing budgets, implementing project schedules for all multidisciplinary teams, and providing technical leadership and mentorship to project engineers and other staff. You will ensure adherence to Tighe & Bond’s standards of quality through the development of permit applications, drawings, specifications, opinions of cost, and reports.

What will you be doing?   
As a Senior Project Manager, you will work collaboratively with a team of experts to provide biosolids management and wastewater treatment solutions for small to large wastewater systems throughout New England.  In this capacity you will be responsible for leading the technical aspects of business development activities related to biosolids management prospects. It is expected that your biosolids knowledge and industry connections will serve as the basis for creating technically sound proposals. Senior Project Managers will be technical leaders in the business line and are highly encouraged to partake in industry organizations and to present and publish the results of your team’s work.

Regarding project execution, you will be expected to lead teams of process engineers as well as engineers from supporting trades to develop comprehensive deliverables. This could include biosolids planning studies, the design of any of the biosolids systems mentioned above, or the management of construction phase engineering.

Environmental Analyst – Technical Assistance Provider

Work directly with public water systems in Maine to promote compliance and protect human health. NEIWPCC is looking for a detail-oriented environmental analyst to join our team and provide technical assistance for the Maine Drinking Water Program by:

  • Using expertise in drinking water treatment and distribution to help Public Water Systems (PWS) throughout the state provide safe drinking water to their customers.
  • Participating in field inspection visits and providing hands-on technical assistance and education to promote compliance and increase technical, managerial, and financial capacity.
  • Performing research and assisting with data improvement projects.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related field, and at least three years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of the principles of drinking water treatment and distribution.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, with a willingness to work directly with diverse groups.
  • Excellent computer capabilities and proven accuracy with data management.
  • A dedication to protecting public health.

This full-time position will work 8 hours per day and is based in the Maine Department of Health and Human Services office in Augusta, ME. Duties will be performed largely in an office setting with frequent travel throughout the state of Maine, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation are required. After six months, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, subject to approval and program needs.

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $47,000 – $64,000. NEIWPCC offers an outstanding comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.

Working under the administrative direction of the Water/Wastewater Superintendent, the Assistant Wastewater Superintendent assists with planning, organizing, scheduling and directing the daily operations and maintenance of the Wastewater Division.

Examples of position specific duties* include:

•    Provides instruction and mentoring to subordinate employees and supervises the daily operation of the workforce, evaluates staff
performance and administers corrective measures with the approval of the Water/Wastewater Superintendent, Director of Public Works
and Town Administrator. Follows applicable OSHA regulation as they pertain to the work environment

•    Oversees Wastewater Division billing, accounting, inventory control and record keeping

•    Assists in planning future construction and development of wastewater projects. Keeps abreast of developments in the field of wastewater
collection and treatment.

 

RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computers, Business Administration or related field. Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible experience in a wastewater collection system or wastewater treatment facility with three years of direct supervisory control; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements: Massachusetts Class D motor vehicles operator’s license is required. Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License required; Grade 6 preferred. NEWEA Collection System Operator Certificate preferred.

Wastewater Treatment Facility Superintendent

About the Quonset Development Corporation

The Quonset Development Corporation (QDC) is a quasi-state agency responsible for the management of the 3,200-acre Quonset Business Park in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.  The Quonset Business Park is a statewide asset, and QDC seeks to develop the Park in the best interest of the citizens of Rhode Island to attract and retain successful businesses that provide diverse employment opportunities.  In broad terms, QDC aims to create additional jobs, stimulate private sector investment and create additional tax base.

Position Overview

This position plans, directs, and has “responsible charge” of all activities and personnel of the Quonset Development Corporation’s (QDC) Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW).  The position reports directly to the Director of Public Works.

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Certifies the POTW complies with all federal and state wastewater and safety regulations, and that all facilities and collection system are in a “standard of good repair” at all times.
  • Ensures that all sampling, laboratory testing, and reporting is completed in full compliance with the POTW’s RIPDES permit, and other applicable EPA requirements.  Anticipate operating problems and directs proactive measures to avoid malfunctions/failures of equipment.
  • Prepare financials/budgets.
  • Manages the WWTF operations staff (including hiring, performance management, employee development, training, disciplinary action, termination recommendation).
  • Represents QDC as the WWTF Treatment Facility subject matter expert to outside agencies, vendors, and regulators.
  • Acts as the liaison between the QDC POTW and the Town of North Kingstown Wastewater Department; following the Interjurisdictional Agreement (IJA).

Requirements:

  • 3 years of progressively responsible experience at a Grade 3 WWTF level.
  • Valid RIDEM Grade 3, or higher, wastewater operator certificate.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Familiarity with EPA’s “NetDMR” electronic reporting system, Federal Pretreatment Rule (40 CFR 403) and required testing procedures (40 CFR 136).
  • Computer Proficiency (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, on-line reporting applications, on-line forms, etc.)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or related field.
  • 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience at a Grade 3 WWTF level with at least 3 years at a supervisory level at a Grade 3 or higher facility.
  • Familiarity with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) WWTF operating systems and mobile operating/data collection devices/platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire POTW staff to achieve exceptional regulatory compliance as demonstrated by past agency/association recognition.

Under direct or general supervision, the purpose of this position is to perform skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the municipal wastewater treatment plant and collection system. The employee operates and performs maintenance on equipment, systems, and facilities related to the treatment plant and collection system. The operator is required to be on call for emergencies. Duties may involve the continuous presence of unpleasant or irritating elements such as raw sewage, hazardous machinery or substances, considerable noise, odors, chemical fumes, traffic, moving mechanical parts, extremes of heat or cold, high or confined places, dust, smoke, heat, cold, oil, dirt or grease. Work is continually performed outdoors, regardless of weather conditions. Work generally contains one or more constant elements of stress such as being on call or working during emergency situations. Position requires occasional work outside normal business hours in response to natural or man-made emergency situations.

The Concord, MA staff is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and the building and grounds. This full-time position is responsible for the operation and general maintenance of equipment at a 1 MGD advanced wastewater treatment facility. Primary focus will be in laboratory analysis, record keeping, and process control. Secondary focus is assisting with maintenance projects and general facility and grounds maintenance.

Schedule: Our operators participate in an “on call” rotation for plant coverage outside normal workday hours, including weekends. In addition, operators will be required to respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed.  The daily schedule is Monday – Friday, 7.00AM – 3.30PM.

 

Pay Range: $23-$30/hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

 

What you will need to succeed:

  • Massachusetts Grade IV or higher license, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a wastewater treatment facility, operation, and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education.
  • Must live within a one hour radius of Concord, MA in order to respond to emergency call-outs.
  • High School or trade school diploma is required, Associate Degree or higher preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with biological/chemical treatment processes with particular aptitude for laboratory analysis, record keeping, and facility maintenance.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
