follows: Minimum $53,717.17- Maximum $70,481.59

Position Description:
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Performs all preventive and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment.
• Consults Superintendent regarding preventive maintenance program.
• Inspects plant and mechanical equipment for malfunctions and needed repairs.
• Keep maintenance records on all repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Shall be capable of using and maintaining all tools and equipment used in the department.
• Shall be familiar with all safety equipment used in the department.
• Is required to keep all electrical equipment such as motors, generators, motor starters, etc. in
operating condition.
• Willingness to fill in and be involved with plant operations when needed.
• This individual is under the supervision of the Superintendent and the Asst. Superintendent.
• 40 hrs. per week, emergency overtime.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: High School or Trade School education or equivalent training
or experience GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: a) Ability and knowledge to supervise and participate in
maintenance of mechanical equipment, buildings, structures and grounds. b) Knowledge of processes
and equipment involved in Wastewater Treatment, compost operation, sewer system and pump
stations.

Detailed Description:

  • Client Development: Provides general business development support to facilitate client development by client service managers, including assembling information packages, connecting CSMs to other clients, experts, and opportunities within the organization, organizing client workshops and special events, and maintaining marketing files. Work with Client Service Managers to understand and respond to client needs, meetings and events.
  • Business Development: Contributes to company marketing process improvements to support efficiency and overall sales program effectiveness. Provides planning support for key conferences to maximize presence and investment.
    Marketing Information: Manages process to create and maintain well-organized, up-to-date qualifications statements, project descriptions, and resumes that reflect firm strengths and client benefits. Provides timely entry of accurate and complete opportunity information and products in company tracking system.
  • Market Sector and Service Line Development: Coordinate with other marketers and senior technical staff to implement market sector and service line initiatives. Support events, communications, and branding efforts to enhance BC’s position in the market.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (Communications, English, Journalism, or Marketing preferred) with 5+ years of experience in a related role. Experience in engineering, environmental, architectural, and/or construction field is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with emphasis on superior persuasive writing and presentation ability.

The Town of South Kingstown is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Wastewater Operator I. The Wastewater Division operates and maintains the South Kingstown Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility, which services portions of South Kingstown and its regional partners, the Town of Narragansett and the University of Rhode Island. The facility receives septage from outlying areas, and conventional wastewater via the Town’s municipal gravity collection system and twelve pump stations. The facility also accepts and treats septage waste from Town property owners not connected to the municipal sanitary wastewater collection system. The Wastewater Division provides continuous treatment of wastewater from residential and non-residential users that meets or exceeds requirements in accordance with its Rhode Island Pollution Discharge Elimination System permit as issued by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. Additionally, the Wastewater Division is responsible for the oversight of the On-Site Wastewater Management Program, to help ensure that the surface waters and groundwater of the Town are protected to the greatest extent possible.

The positon of Wastewater Operator I is responsible for performing routine maintenance in the operation and control of the Town’s wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, and wastewater collection system. This position requires the skillful, safe, and efficient operation of related tools and equipment while performing a variety of tasks, and handling of chemicals and septage. Duties include operating treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge and effluent; monitoring gauges, meters, and control panels; observing variation in operating conditions; interpreting meter and gauge readings; interpreting test results to determine processing requirements; performing daily laboratory testing for process control, quality control assurance, and permit; and operating and maintaining related machinery, equipment, and vehicles. The position requires the ability to service equipment, make minor field repairs and adjustments, and perform assorted tasks requiring manual labor for extended periods under unfavorable weather conditions when necessary.

Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to skillfully, safely, and efficiently operate related tools and equipment; perform mathematical calculations necessary for related laboratory testing; and establish and maintain successful working relationships with fellow employees and the public, and to effectively deal with others in a helpful, respectful, and courteous manner. Please note this position is considered essential and Wastewater Operators must be available for 24/7 on call status for all shifts to respond to winter storm, weather, and emergency events; the position includes storm operations responsibilities, including 24/7 on call status for sanding/salting/plowing events; and requires the ability to drive and operate equipment during winter storm events and unfavorable conditions, often for lengthy durations. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and successful completion of a pre-employment physical and background check. The position requires holding a Grade I State of RI Wastewater Operator’s License issued by the RI Board of Certification of Operators of Wastewater Treatment Facilities. Those without a Grade I license will be required to obtain this licensure, within twelve (12) months of hire. Candidates with a Grade I license upon hire are preferred. The position requires a valid RI Driver’s license with a CDL Class B endorsement, or the ability to obtain same within 6 months of hire; current CDL Class B holders are preferred. Candidates with at least 2 years of related work history preferred.

This 40-hour per week position affiliated with Council94 has a regular schedule of 7:30am to 4pm Monday through Friday. The position starts at a rate of $21.53 per hour, and after successful completion of a six-month probationary period, increases to $22.07 per hour and includes a full range of benefits. General Statement of Duties:  Operates, maintains, inspects, cleans and performs basic repairs on all equipment, pumps, motors and machinery related to the wastewater treatment processes and facility. Qualifications:  High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma.  A State of Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Class II Operator or higher certification; or a Class II Operator-in-Training (OIT) or higher certification.

Special Requirements:  Must maintain the Class II Operator certification in good standing.  Must possess and maintain a valid Connecticut motor vehicle operator’s license.

TITLE: Process Controller Pretreatment Coordinator

Nature of Work:
This position performs a variety of technical work related to the operation of a municipal wastewater treatment facility and the ‘administration of a wastewater pretreatment program. Person provides close supervision of union employees, assigns work daily, and inspects work periodically. Work is generally performed under the general direction and administration of the Wastewater Superintendent.

Essential Functions:

1. Inspects plant to insure proper and efficient operations.

2. Monitors plant process variables and initiates changes as determined through calculations, test procedures, and independent judgment.

3. Samples wastewater and process flow at the plant and industrial/commercial discharges.

4. Inspects industrial/commercial users for pretreatment program compliance.

5. Conducts scheduled and unscheduled compliance inspections of, and delivers violation notices and/or other regulatory documents to industrial/commercial users.

6. Performs laboratory analysis to satisfy Federal, State, and local requirements.

7. Monitors and assist in the QA/QC testing and reporting of results.

8. Inspects and adjusts equipment regularly.

9. Maintains a neat and orderly work area, as well as detailed records and operational logs.

10. Maintains positive relations with the public, commercial and industrial users, and regulatory Agencies.

11. Is present for all inspections of the laboratory by DEM and DOH.

12. Orders chemicals and equipment for the wet side including processing chemicals, odor control and lab chemicals.

13. Conducts employee safety training, serves as the Plant Safety Coordinator.

14. Performs related work as required to complete work assignments

Critical Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

1. Knowledge of math, science, and mechanics.

Minimum Requirements:

1. High school diploma or GED.

2. Two (2) years experience working at a secondary wastewater treatment facility, and demonstrated experience in pretreatment program.

3. Valid Grade II Rhode Island Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate, obtained through examination.

4. Valid Rhode Island Driver’s License, with no restrictions that would limit or adversely affect insurability.

Physical Environment/Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

1. The work environment may be within an office setting or a field setting, including construction sites and high traffic zones.

2. Working conditions may vary from moderate temperatures and light (office environment) to inclement weather and night (field environment). The employee works in and around wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.

3. The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy.

4. The employee may routinely lift and/or move objects up to ninety (90) pounds, and may climb or crawl into and out of limited access areas such as pumping stations and associated wastewater collection system confined spaces.

  • Minimum 5-years’ experience with water treatment system operations and maintenance, specifically with chemical precipitation and clarification
  • Minimum 5-years’ experience with water sample collection
  • Working knowledge of and proficiency with troubleshooting plumping, electrical, and SCADA systems
  • Ability to pass a Transportation Security Administration background check for Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA)
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
  • Effective technical, written, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NH Wastewater Grade III/IV OIT or a Massachusetts Grade 4I Wastewater license or equivalent
  • HAZWOPER 40-hr Training and current 8-hr refresher training
  • Experience with ion exchange treatment technologies
  • Experience with metals precipitation and settling systems

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time either stationary or walking
  • Field activities that may require working in unfavorable weather conditions, including heat and cold
  • Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
