The Littleton Water Department is accepting applications for a Utility Laborer position. Responsibilities include installing and reading water meters and other devices; installing and maintaining water and sewer mains, services, and associated appurtenances; assisting in construction, maintenance, and servicing of LELWD facilities; attending training workshops; and performing any/all activities determined to meet the best interest of the Department. This position works under the direct supervision of the Water Foreman.
This is a union position with a starting base salary of $55,619 – $73,964 per year, with job classification and pay specifications pending candidate’s experience and licenses. Overtime pay is in addition. Required minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, vocational school certificate, or Equivalency-GED, a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License, and the applicant must be physically capable of lifting and moving heavy items such as fire hose, generators and other heavy equipment used in the water works industry.
Benefits include a four-day work week (10-hour days, Monday through Thursday), enrollment in the Massachusetts Public Pension System, 12 paid holidays per year, 2 weeks’ vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 24 hours of personal time per year. After a reasonable training period, the successful candidate will be required to participate in the weekly on-call rotation, which requires the ability to respond to after-hours emergencies at any time of day or night for one week out of every six.
