New England Water Environment Association’s 1st Poo & Brew Event
The New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) Young Professionals (YP) Committee organized a uniquely named event that included a tour of a wastewater treatment plant followed by a brewery!
The event began with a classroom history lesson of the Deer Island WWTP in Boston, the second largest treatment plant in the United States. Following the introduction, the group of YPs received a wonderful and informative tour of the impressive Deer Island facility.
Following the “poo” portion of the event, YPs reconvened at a local brewery along with additional folks that didn’t attend the WWTP tour. Attendees were treated to pizza and given a tour of the brewery’s facilities. Mystic Brewery in Chelsea, MA graciously hosted our group and fun was had by all.
The 1st Poo and Brew was certainly a success, and the NEWEA YP Committee is beginning to plan the 2nd edition of this event! Overall it provided technical information, networking opportunities, and much fun for everyone involved!
