Membership Categories

NEWEA membership includes membership in the national Water Environment Federation (WEF) with the exception of the New England Regulator and Associate Membership* which is a NEWEA-only membership.  All NEWEA members receive the NEWEA Journal, Waterlink e-newsletter, discounted registration at all NEWEA/WEF meetings and conferences in addition to a variety of WEF publications.  If you need more help in deciding which membership category best fits your personal or organization’s needs, please contact the NEWEA office.

Professional

Every individual member of NEWEA and WEF working in water quality is a professional in the field and contribute to making our world a better place to live. Professional Membership is open to all individuals who subscribe to this philosophy.

Academic

The Academic package is designed for Professors and Educators interested or involved in subjects related to the water quality industry.

Professional Wastewater Operators (PWO)

PWO membership is designed for individuals involved on a daily basis in wastewater treatment, collection, or laboratory operations.

Young Professional (YP)

A Young Professional is an individual in the water quality profession with five years or less work experience in the industry and who is under 35 years old. This category is valid only for the first three years of WEF/NEWEA membership and is available only to new member applicants and Student members.

Student

The Student membership package is designed for students enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours in an accredited college or university.  Must provide written documentation on school letterhead verifying status, signed by an advisor or faculty member.

Regulator

This New England Regulator membership is a NEWEA-only membership.  It is intended for those who are employed by a New England Environmental Regulatory Agency, including: USEPA Region 1, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Maine Department of Environmental Protection, Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation.

Dual Membership

In order to qualify, you must be a WEF member in another state (i.e. New York). Dual members receive all NEWEA newsletters, Journal, and member discounts to attend NEWEA events.

Associate Membership

The Associate membership package is a NEWEA-only membership category and is for the general public. This category is for an individual who has an interest in water and the environment but is NOT currently employed in the industry or a related field (e.g., attorneys or suppliers). Associate members will be able to attend events at member rates, receive the online journal, and participate in NEWEA committees. Examples of Associate Members: Retired water professionals who do not qualify for WEF Life membership; Teachers; Journalists who report on water quality issues; elected officials; and/or citizen samples/members of various watershed/conservation/sportsman organizations

Executive

The Executive membership package is available to any individual interested or involved in water quality and is designed specifically to provide access to WEF’s comprehensive suite of publications and water knowledge.

Corporate

The Corporate membership package is available to companies that support the water environment profession and wish to affiliate their organization with the leaders of the water quality field.  One corporate contact, from the Corporate member organization, is entitled to all base Professional member benefits. Unexpired corporate memberships may be transferred to another corporate contact.

Utility Partnership Program (UPP)

The Utility Partnership Program (UPP) consolidates all NEWEA/WEF members within your organization onto one account, streamlining the renewal process and maximizing your resources.  UPP members benefit further from complimentary memberships for public officials and new members as well as discounts on registrations and publications.  Contact WEF at upp@wef.org or 703-684-2400 x7750 to sign up.
