SustainCS17_PumpingStation_TMcDonald - Pumping Station Consolidation and Trenchless Installation Case Study: New River Street Pump Station Project – Timothy McDonald, ARCADIS US, Inc. The New River Street Pump Station in Bridgeport, CT consolidated two existing pump stations, and utilized trenchless technology to avoid costly soil excavation and disposal costs associated with traditional open-cut installation
SustainCS17_ReviewingStormwater_WBates - Reviewing Stormwater Collection Projects through a Sustainability Lens – Wayne Bates and Joseph Persechino, Tighe & Bond This presentation will use the recent stormwater design projects to introduce a common definition of sustainability and an approach where the three responsibilities are identified and evaluated in a manner that can that can be used to evaluate similar projects through a sustainability lens.
SustainCS17_SustainableMaintenance_JBuckley - Sustainable Maintenance Practices – Joseph Buckley and Mark Hollis, City of Worcester, MA DPW Siphons help us to move wastewater under grade limiting obstacles such as other utilities, culverts, rivers, and underpasses while still manipulating gravity. If unable to take advantage of gravity; pumping may be the only option in some sewer applications. We have a siphon that crosses a highway, a large culvert, a river and a railroad location block, we are going to talk about what we learned form freeing the blockage and changes we have made as a result.
SustainCS17_TwoTrenchless_MTimberlake - Utilizing Two Trenchless Rehabilitation Technologies to Reduce Wet Weather Flows in the Bear Brook Watershed - Saco, ME Case Study – Matt Timberlake, Ted Berry Company, Inc. The project provides an excellent example of both interdepartmental cooperation by the Water Resource Recovery Department and the Public Works Department, coupled with Ted Berry’s expertise in trenchless technologies to save the community scarce rehabilitation money.
