In honor of these founding engineers and their vision of the present organization, which we now call the "New England Water Environment Association," the Executive Committee established the Founders Award. The Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) is the most prestigious international youth award for a high school water science research project. Its purpose is to increase students' interest in water-related issues and research, and to sensitize them - as future leaders - to global water challenges. SJWP is open to projects aimed at improving the quality of life through improvement of water quality, water resources management, water protection or water and wastewater treatment. SJWP welcomes theoretical and applied science studies as well as projects aimed at solving community water problems. The projects may focus on local, regional, national or global topics. It is essential that all projects use a research oriented approach, which means that they must use scientifically accepted methodologies for experimentation, monitoring and reporting the

WASTEWATER UTILITY AWARD FOR OPERATIONAL AND PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE - July 15th

Many times performance is only highlighted when problems occur; the NEWEA Utility Management Committee recognizes this fact and looks to change public perception about this field and the important role it plays in everyone’s lives each day.
NEWEA and the NEWEA Utility Management committee understand that flow and loadings should not be the only criteria for this award but how the process, people and customers are managed is of paramount importance. Therefore regardless of your facility’s capacity, we offer you the opportunity to show to NEWEA and New England the pride and accomplishment of yourself and your staff.
