2010 NEWEA Spring Meeting and Exhibition
Over 240 attendees from New England and beyond attended this year's annual spring meeting in Ogunquit, Maine at The Cliff House Resort, June 6-9.
The meeting began on Monday morning with a breakfast session featuring two keynote speakers; Frederick J McNeill, Chief Engineer of the City of Manchester, NH's Environmental Protection Division, spoke about his recent experience in Washington and the benefit of the Congressional Breakfast and Andrew Fisk, Bureau Director of Land and Water Quality for the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, shared his thoughts on the Clean Water Act.
Over the next few days, technical sessions on Maine's Long Creek Watershed Restoration Program, I/I, residuals, energy and stormwater were presented. Two specialty workshops were held. The first workshop was held on Monday afternoon and focused on safety issues. The second was a one-day workshop held on Wednesday entitled, "Designing and Operating Sustainable Small Wastewater Systems" which focused on the design of small sustainable wastewater systems, utility management and energy efficiency opportunities.
The spring meeting also held tours to Sanford, ME Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facility and Saco, ME WWTP as well as the always popular Operations Challenge competition, networking receptions, Golf tournament and the Tuesday evening dinner event.
Congratulations to Operation Challenge Teams. The top three teams will be sent to the national competition during WEFTEC10' in New Orleans, LA.
