NEWEA's Watershed Management and Stormwater Committees will present a joint specialty conference and exhibit on Thursday, October 16th, 2014 in Mystic, Connecticut.
Innovative Watershed and Stormwater Management Strategies to Address Regulatory Challenges
Watershed and stormwater management are valuable tools that municipal and other officials can use to help address TMDLs, MS4 permit requirements and non-regulatory concerns. Proper management of stormwater and watersheds includes nutrient and pathogen removal, flood management, emergency contingency planning, monitoring, modeling, stormwater utilites, and public education and outreach. These tools are necessary steps in integrated stormwater and wastewater planning while maintaining low cost and maximizing efficiency. Effective watershed management allows for resources sustainability by allowing managers to stay in regulatory compliance even while changes in land use take place.
This joint conference will allow watershed managers, engineers, scientists and regulators to share their expertise and experience in their quest to understand and develop sustainable watersheds. The conference will include technical presentations and a moderated panel discussion among regulatory officials and representatives of the regulated community. View Program
