NEWEA Joins WEF for National Water Policy Fly-In

Working for Water Quality

NEWEA will be participating in the National Water Policy Fly-in in Washington, DC on March 21-22, 2017

Come to the Capitol to join with WEF, NACWA, AWWA, WERF and other organizations to support water quality and to dialog with Congressional representatives from the New England states.

We’re at a critical juncture for the clean water industry!
  • On the plus side, President-elect Trump has indicated strong support for investments in infrastructure
    • Will our water and wastewater systems get critically needed funding?
    • Will the Clean Water State Revolving Fund continue unscathed, and what will New England’s share be?
  • On the uncertainty side, we expect the EPA to look very different in 2017
    • How will water policies change under the new administration?
    • What are the water environment focuses for the 115th Congress?
The Government Affairs Committee will be summarizing the key issues related to these topics in advance of the trip to Washington to give you background information and provide talking points to use when you speak with federal legislators.

This year’s Congressional trip will be different and more succinct than past NEWEA trips to DC.  Major events will include:
  • NEWEA Kickoff Luncheon on Tuesday March 21at the Capital Visitors Center (the Capital) https://www.visitthecapitol.gov/Speakers will cover major water developments in Washington, tips for effective congressional meetings and review NEWEA’s talking points
  • Meetings with Senators, Representatives and aides on Capitol Hill – Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday
  • Rally for Clean Water – Wednesday morning at the Capitol
  • Congressional Reception – Wednesday evening March 22, Cannon Caucus Room
Here’s what you should do now to prepare for the Congressional trip:
